Somatic Therapies

Body-based practices for calm, resilience, and transformation.

Our bodies hold stress, stories, and patterns. Somatic therapies help us return to balance through movement, breath, and mindful awareness. Each offering is tailored to meet the needs of children, adults, communities, and workplaces.

  • Somatic therapy is a body-based approach that helps release stress, calm the nervous system, and restore balance. It works with the connection between body, breath, and mind — recognising that emotions and experiences live in the body as much as the mind. Through gentle movement, breathwork, and mindfulness, somatic practices help you feel more grounded, calm, and connected to yourself.

  • Somatic therapy offers practical, science-backed tools for:

    • Reducing anxiety and stress.

    • Managing chronic pain and fatigue.

    • Building resilience and emotional regulation.

    • Improving posture, focus, and sleep.

    • Strengthening confidence and self-awareness.

Unlike traditional yoga or meditation, somatic work isn’t about performance, flexibility, or clearing your mind. It’s about listening to your body, gently unwinding patterns of stress, and creating sustainable ways to feel safe, calm, and empowered in daily life.

  • Every session is tailored to you or your group. You might explore:

    • Gentle grounding movement.

    • Breathwork to calm or energise.

    • Mindfulness and relaxation practices.

    • Creative or reflective tools (such as journalling or story work).

Sessions are always guided at your pace, with adaptations for age, ability, or health needs. The aim is that you leave feeling calmer, more at ease in your body, and with simple tools you can use anytime.

Our Services

  • Somatic Calm for Anxiety & Stress

Anxiety and stress aren’t just in the mind — they live in the body. Tight shoulders, shallow breath, racing thoughts, restless energy. Somatic Calm is designed to bring relief by meeting the body where it is and gently guiding it back to balance.

These sessions are for older children (10+), teens, and adults who want practical tools for resilience. You’ll learn how to regulate your nervous system, release stored tension, and shift unhelpful patterns through:

Breathwork practices to calm and reset.

Gentle yoga and somatic movement to soften tightness and restore ease.

Mindfulness and grounding tools to anchor you in the present.

Simple, science-backed explanations so you understand why these methods work.

Sessions can run as 1:1 support, group classes, drop-ins, or structured 6-week courses. Whether you need a dedicated space to release anxiety or want to build lasting resilience, Somatic Calm offers both immediate relief and tools you can carry into everyday life.

  • Embodied Support for Chronic Illness & Pain

Living with chronic pain or illness is exhausting. It’s not just the symptoms — it’s the constant adjustments, the energy drain, the flare-ups that derail plans. Embodied Support for Chronic Illness & Pain offers gentle, adaptable practices to help you find moments of ease and strategies for getting through the harder days.

These sessions are for teens and adults living with conditions such as fibromyalgia, CRPS, long COVID, and fatigue-related illnesses. Together, we’ll explore:

Restorative yoga and somatic practices adapted to your body’s limits.

Breathwork for pacing, energy management, and flare-up survival.

Guided relaxation to ease discomfort and restore calm.

Practical adjustments to support daily living with illness.

This work is grounded in both professional training and lived experience, creating a compassionate, safe space led by someone who understands the realities of chronic illness. The goal is not to erase pain, but to help you find more trust, safety, and softness in your body — even on difficult days.

  • Somatic Support for Children

When children struggle with regulation, confidence, or big emotions, it can impact every part of their life. Yet many families face long waits for SEN provision or find there simply isn’t enough support available. Somatic Support for Children offers a dedicated 1:1 space designed to help children feel safe, seen, and supported.

Sessions (30–45 minutes) combine movement, creativity, and mindfulness in a way that feels like play but builds real-life skills. Children explore:

    Grounding games and mindful breathing.

    Movement storytelling and creative expression.

Emotional literacy — naming, understanding, and calming feelings.

Closing rituals to end each session with a sense of safety and calm.

Support can be provided in schools, day centres, or at home, and can act as bridging provision where SEN funding or diagnoses aren’t yet in place. The aim is to give every child a consistent space to build regulation skills, grow confidence, and carry calming strategies into their everyday world.

  • Community Calm Sessions

Communities thrive when their members feel connected, supported, and cared for. Yet carers, day centres, and mental health hubs often carry heavy emotional loads with few chances to pause. Community Calm Sessions bring simple, accessible wellbeing practices into the heart of community life.

Each 30–60 minute session is tailored to the group’s needs and abilities. Practices can include:

Gentle, accessible movement (seated or standing).

Breathwork and mindfulness to support emotional balance.

Relaxation rituals such as sound, guided meditation, or sensory tools.

Optional creative activities like writing, drawing, or storytelling.

The focus is always on inclusivity and accessibility — everyone, regardless of age or ability, can participate. These sessions reduce stress, encourage connection, and create a calmer, more resilient community atmosphere.

  • Workplace Wellbeing Sessions

Stress, long hours, and desk-based work take their toll on both body and mind. Poor posture, tension, and burnout are now some of the most common workplace issues. Workplace Wellbeing Sessions offer simple, practical techniques to support healthier teams and more positive workplace culture.

In these 30–60 minute sessions (online or in-house), staff are guided through:

Desk-friendly posture resets and corrective movement.

Breathwork and mindfulness for focus and calm.

Somatic stress-release practices to soften tension.

Everyday self-care tools employees can use immediately.

These sessions not only reduce stress and physical discomfort, but also improve focus, productivity, and morale. They’re an investment in staff wellbeing that pays off in both health and workplace culture.
